VONKEN MINI

Vonken Mini heats up rather fast. With the right weather conditions and a correct process to spark the fire, you can reach temperatures up to 500°C after 5-10 minutes. The stone floor is made from authentic chamotte which takes a little longer to heat up. Once the chamotte is warm, it retains heat for a long time.

Vonken uses an innovative, integrated door that you don’t have to take out or put back in every time. To combine high temperatures with a stainless steel door, the design of the door is optimised by adding some play: it ensures that the lock remains functional under all temperatures. No worries, the play won’t prevent the door from being sufficiently closed.

The lock of the door falls into a built-in hook in the oven. Raise the door carefully by the handle and let it slowly fall into the lock. To open: raise the door carefully by the handle and softly pull the door out of the lock. Is the oven very warm? Avoid to constantly keep the door closed.

The fire basket is made from stainless steel material. Stainless steel is a flexible material and expands through heat. The fire basket will slide in and out differently according to the temperature. No worries: push the basket firmly or slide the basket in on one side first and then on the other.

The wooden handles are secured with a sleeve and cross screw for optimal replacement and upcycling. You can easily tighten these after a few years with a regular screwdriver and hand drill.

Vonken Mini’s interior space is 42 cm by 42 cm. You can bake one very large pizza, two regular breads, or one big grill pan or one big oven dish in the Mini. Thanks to the very high temperatures, cooking is fast.

Vonken Mini reaches temperatures up to 500°C. While high temperatures are interesting for pizza and a few other dishes, the strength of the Mini lies in the constant heat capacity thanks to the chamotte stones and insulation: once the oven is warm, it retains temperatures above 250°C for a long time, which is ideal for chicken, bread and other oven dishes.

Beech wood is the best wood: good flame development and a lot of heat. If you use pellets, please only use hardwood pellets: you can choose between flavours such as apple, walnut or even olive. Have a look in our shop!

Count for a cooking session with Vonken Mini on 0.5 to 3 kg of wood, depending on how warm and how long you want to cook for.

Wood becomes wet if it’s outside uncovered. Store in a dry place.

Burn wood for a cleaning cycle of approximately 30 minutes.

It’s very easy and extremely delicious to barbecue with Vonken Mini. Buy a grill pan or a stainless steel oven dish, heat up the oven and slide whatever you’d put on the barbecue under the flames in the oven: quick, crispy, tasty and a lot of fun!

The rain cover for Vonken Mini is compatible with Vonken Mini. The grill, spit-roast and cooking platform accessories are designed for Vonken Original. Vonken Mini includes a pizza shovel. To grill in Vonken Mini, you can use a cast-iron grill pan, or we refer you to the tips elsewhere on this page.

Stainless steel expands through high temperatures, which creates more friction. No worries though: hold the handle, push it up a little and pull the basket out.

Cast-iron grill pans or stainless steel oven dishes are fine, affordable and can sustain high temperatures in the wood oven. Make sure there is no plastic or wooden handle or anything else on the pans and dishes.

For the most part, the Mini is self-cleaning through the pyrolysis function: thanks to the high temperatures, the oven cleans itself. Is it very dirty though? Make an extra fire, on the stone floor if necessary, and clean it like that. If ashes remain, take these out with a brush and dustpan.

Always use dry wood. Less is more: don’t stack too many logs on top of each other, otherwise you suffocate the fire. To reach powerful temperatures, you can always apply the pizza hack technique: put a log on the inside of the oven, left with a part leaning on the fire basket, and another leaning on the stone floor.

The oven is made from stainless steel and is, as such, weather- and waterproof. Yet we suggest using the rain cover to bridge extended periods of cold weather (winter) and very rainy days to prevent the ingress of water, as this can damage the insulation and stone floor.

Vonken Mini is very sustainable thanks to strong insulation and materials with a high heating capacity. The interior space is covered with a 3 cm layer of insulation, filled with an innovative ceramic insulation. Consequently, the oven can retain heat for an extended period of time, and it does not cool down between various pizzas or dishes.

The Mini is very economical thanks to strong insulation and materials with a high heating capacity. You don’t have to use a lot of wood in comparison to uninsulated ovens or grill appliances. This also means that the Mini emits a very low amount of carbon dioxide in comparison to other outdoor kitchens.

You can easily fix this by applying another layer with a black spray can that you can find in any hardware store. As the oven is made from stainless steel, you needn’t worry about corrosion from the inside: it is simply impossible.

It’s very easy and extremely delicious to barbecue in the Vonken Original thanks to the Vonken grill accessory. Heat up the oven and slide whatever you’d put on the barbecue under the flames in the oven: quick, crispy, tasty and a lot of fun!

These accessories are compatible:

  • The Vonken Original rain cover.
  • The grill, spit-roast, and cooking platform accessories are designed for the Vonken Original.
  • The smoke floor is designed for the Vonken Original.
  • The smoker tool is designed for any outdoor kitchen.

You can slide the spit-roast in the oven and let it rest on the slidable handle. You can choose how to catch dripping fat: in a stainless steel oven dish, grill pan, or anything you please. Just place this on the spit-roast drawer. Very easy!

To use the cooking platform, you need to take out the chimney of the oven (best when it’s cold), place the platform around the chimney by the two tabs and spark a fire as you usually would. Paella, a stir fry pan, or a pan for Béarnaise to go with the steak? Enjoy the vast array of options. Can you also use the oven while using the cooking platform? Of course!

Is it cold outside? Is there a lot of wind? Are the stones moist? All these factors influence the heat of the oven. Always use dry wood. SMOKING AND SMOKER TOOLS

The smoker tool is very easy to use. Place a firelighter on one side and fill the smoker tool with pellets. Ignite the firelighter and let it burn for 5 minutes. Blow it out and a beautiful smoke development will arise at the beginning of the pellet strip. Close the tool and put this in a kamado, barbecue, oven or any other outdoor kitchen that can be closed. Put the ingredients on a platform or grill in the outdoor kitchen and let them smoke.

Absolutely. The smoker tool is designed for any outdoor kitchen that can be closed with a lid, door, or any other way.

Blow it out again and make sure that not a lot of oxygen can reach the tool. Close the outdoor kitchen well enough to avoid this from happening.
